Cruelty to Animals or animal abuse is considered a common activity nowadays which is performed in almost every area. Every day countless cats, dogs, elephants, and other animals suffer and die due to the cruelty and brutality done to them by the hand of very people who are supposed to care and protect them. Physical violence, emotional abuse, and life-threatening situations are daily realities for many animals, and cruelty to these speechless animals is a very serious issue.
They are treated like non-living things that have no pain sensors (and even the non-living objects shouldn’t be treated this way). Humans sometimes behave so brutally towards these poor animals just for their pleasure but is it really satisfying? Don’t you feel hurting inside when such cruelty to animals is done?
Animals should not require our permission to live on earth. Animals were given the rights before we arrived.
Every animal gets abused every 60 seconds. That’s unconscionable, especially in our modern culture, but this cruelty to animals continues to occur all over the world.
These sentient animals are capable of love and spreading it not only towards their master but to every human who experience pain, fear, horror, and desperation. And this why CRUELTY TO ANIMALS must be stopped!
Our animal friends teach us more than we could have expected, love us more than we could have hoped…
We live in a Society
We live in a world that not only turns a blind eye towards the brutal cruelty to animals but also condones it — whether through indifference or legislation. It’s legal to raise chickens in deplorable conditions for the sole purpose of slaughtering them later. If that isn’t cruelty to animals, then what is?
The problem is that there aren’t enough people fighting for animal rights and cruelty towards these sinless animals. If everyone started to look at animals — and not just dogs and cats — as fellow animals who share our planet, we would see far fewer cases of cruelty toward animals.
First, though, we have to spread awareness. What is animal cruelty? What does it look like? And how can we stop contributing to it?
What exactly is Cruelty to Animals?
Acts of violence or ignoring animals are considered acts of animal cruelty. Examples include overt animal abuse, dog and cockfighting, and companion animal neglect where the animal is denied basic necessities of survival like water, food, and definite shelter. Some aspects of cruelty to animals involve purposefully putting animals in situations that harm, scare, and terrorize them, while others simply result from people looking the other way.
Most animal cruelty investigations involve large-scale operations that victimize hundreds or thousands of animals at a time. For instance, the SPCA randomly goes undercover at factory farming operations to expose the cruel conditions in which farmed animals live. They investigate and take action.
However, cruelty to animals takes place every day in all places, not just in the world of industrial animal agriculture but at various places you can see cruelty towards them. It might be happening inside your neighbor’s house, at an entertainment venue in your city, or at the office or lab near where you work. You’ve likely encountered stray animals throughout your life — companion animals who have been abandoned and left to fend for themselves.
Let me share some of the recent cases where innocent animals were treated terribly.
Case 1:- A pregnant elephant was served pineapple embedded with firecrackers in Kerala.
The pregnant wild elephant in Silent valley forest had fallen victim to an act of human cruelty on May 27 after a pineapple filled with powerful crackers offered by a man exploded in her mouth when she chomped on it. The matter came into notice when one forest officer updated sorrowful post on Facebook with the Mother elephant standing in River. Such a shameless act by locals who fed her that pineapple filled with explosives is the absolute pinnacle of cruelty to animals.
Case 2:- 100 stray dogs were culled and dumped in a forest area in Hyderabad.
18 May 2018, About 100 carcasses of stray dogs were found in the forest area in Kongara, Hyderabad. The NGO that filed the complaint reported that unidentified persons were found picking up street dogs from the Meerpet area and killing them in the forest.
Case 3:- Eleven langurs were brutally killed and dumped near the highway in Rajasthan.
12 January 2018: Eleven monkeys were found killed near the National Highway-8, about 66 km from Jaipur, in Rajasthan. Forest officials said they were beaten with sticks and then splashed with an abrasive chemical, probably an acid.
Case 4:- Several stray dogs were poisoned to death in Nagpur.
29 March 2018: Several carcasses of stray dogs were found scattered in the lanes of Mhada quarters in Kalama, Nagpur. Reports suggest that the strays were poisoned by the local meat sellers as the dogs would steal meat from their shops.
Case 5:- A man shot a dog with an air gun to make a mere Snapchat video.
Just for some fame and for the fake act of appearing cool a man shot an innocent poor dog with an air-rifle.
People need to grow up. Treating poor animals like this just for the sake of your entertainment won’t make you popular or give you fame. Only a bully and a coward would hurt an innocent animal. I despise humans like these and so will every sensible human out there. There are many more cases that will frighten you to your core and that forces us to think how bad the situations are.
Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.Schopenhauer
Why Do People show this Cruelty to Animals?
People who participate in acts of cruelty to animals don’t have horns poking out of the tops of their heads, and they don’t twirl their mustaches while cackling evilly. Instead, they look like your neighbor, your friend, your teacher, or your boss.
There’s no specific reason behind animal cruelty. It can occur because of many different causes, many of which stem from human self-interest. If we care only about human beings, we can view animals through a distorted lens.
In most cases, animal cruelty doesn’t feel like an immoral act to the person who commits it. He or she can justify the behavior in myriad ways.
What to do to Prevent Cruelty to Animals?
The greatness of a nation and it’s moral progress can be judged by the way it’s animals are treated.Mahatma Gandhi
It is easy to feel despair when we hear about people who deliberately maim, torture, or kill animals. But just, as cruelty and cowardice are the cause of such as behavior, so courage and kindness are needed to combat it.
Teaching children to empathize with other living beings from an early age, both in social and leading through example is what matters the most. The kids today are the future tomorrow. Cruelty to animals is a serious issue and can only be handled with the full support from the society.
Kind Parents who go of their way to help will also teach their children the essential lessons in life.
Animals in need can inspire future generations to make compassionate thinking choices, and educational establishments also play an important role.
Animals are the royal victims on this earth. They didn’t declare war, they don’t have weapons and they don’t want to destroy humans or impose religion. Their only “crime” is that they exist.
Don’t be a part of the activities where their existence serves as their crime. We must speak for those who can’t speak for themselves.
It takes courage to speak out if you suspect that an animal is being harmed. If you believe an animal is in imminent danger, please contact your local police immediately. When the police are investigating incidents of cruelty often offers a reward to encourage people to come forward with information.
Cruelty to Animals is real and pervasive. Specialism is the cause of these kinds of abuses. Because people see animals as “less valuable” than humans, these atrocities continue to happen over and over. It happens to all different types of animals and in every corner of the world. It’s also preventable and unnecessary.
The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.
Animals are sentient creatures that deserve our respect and protection. They aren’t aggressive toward human beings unless they’re threatened, and we’ve already stolen much of their wildlife space for our own needs. The last thing we need to do is add to their suffering.
There’s no reason to buy animal products at the store or to participate in activities that increase animal cruelty. If you could just take a step forward today, you’d be twice the human you were yesterday. As more people become aware of animal cruelty, we’ll have more power to stop it. Don’t just read this article. Share it. Contribute to society by taking small steps. You can begin by making people aware.
Have you ever witnessed animal cruelty for yourself? What did you do about it?
