To achieve anything you must be more productive and improve everything you can control: like your skill, your time, your talent and many such thing.
But, why am I obsessing about being productive? It’s probably because in this digital age, staying on task and avoiding distraction is harder to accomplish than your actual work. Not to mention the feeling of a productive workday is somewhat euphoric and allows your every thought to be positive. Smart and productive work can always beat hardwork!

Ways to be More Productive
Success comes to those willing to work hard and smart, accept their flaws and mistakes and willing to improve them. You can’t achieve anything if you not utilizing every moment to improve and increase your productivity to achieve your goals. You have to become a productive person first to be a person you have dreamt of! Let’s see some tips on how you can be more productive.
1. Use your morning to focus on yourself and your tasks.
It’s a big productivity scorer to start your mornings by checking your to-do works of the particular day. This allows you to manage the time accordingly to accomplish every task of that particular day. This will help you feel more productive so you can finish your work more effectively.
Start your day out right by ignoring your more sleep temptation in the morning and getting in a good breakfast, reading the news, meditating, or working out. This will ensure you’ve got the necessary fuel for a productive day and the first step to being a more productive person.
2. Make a reasonable to-do list to be more productive.
Don’t overwhelm yourself just for the sake of being more productive. It will stress you out and will do more bad than good. Make a reasonable to-do list that you can actually complete within a given period of time. To-do lists often fail because we make them way too complicated or the tasks are too tough or unequal. Some tasks will take a long time, others won’t take any time at all. This creates an unbalance in the way we distribute our time. What happens then is that our to-do list then becomes a procrastination tool and we just leave everything tomorrow and start avoiding our to-do tasks.
This is a major setback in a way to become a more productive person and you just become a procrastinator. Anxiety and stress hits you when you can’t complete your work and all those efforts to be more productive can go to drain. You find ways to complete easy stuff and start avoiding the hard stuff, and that’s when you get distracted.
Don’t lie, you’ve done that before.
3. Set small goals for the tasks.
Break your every task into segments and start performing it into steps. Setting right and achievable goals is the first step in being more productive. Every new project or assignment, the scope may seem too large. But once you start breaking it down and realizing what can be accomplished, you’ll notice how each part builds upon the other and it will start giving results.
It is the easiest thing to break your one big goal into segments and focus on smaller goals to achieve that one big goal. Deliver your small goals in the smaller patches and build the big picture.
What are the pieces and assets needed? Who do you need to talk to first? Break up these pieces before even setting timelines, and then estimate how long they’ll take you to accomplish. Understanding the scope of what’s being asked, putting the steps in place, and then estimating the time needed will help you get a grasp of what’s being asked and will help you to become more productive.. Sometimes what seems like a big project won’t take much time at all, or vice versa.
4. Focus on one goal at a time.
Don’t do multiple tasks at a single time. This is the biggest mistake one commits in order to be more productive. Our brains aren’t designed to work multiple tasks at a time. Focus on one task at a time and try to complete it within the given duration of the period. Try to allocate to each task according to their importance and try not to copy it from other’s person’s schedule. Make your own and do a single task but with full compatibility at one time. You cannot do multiple things with full attention to everything at a single time. Attention will surely divide between both the task and will affect the quality of your work and thus affect your productivity. In order to be more productive finish one task at a time with full concentration so that you don’t have to look back at that again.
One way to do this is through the 90-90-1 rule. It also works if you’re managing a team.
5. Figure out your ‘two’ peak hours when you are productive.
Some of us are morning people, some of us are night owls. But the modern scenario doesn’t always accommodate that. This can be a major drawback in your way to be more productive. Maybe the office or school/college doesn’t open until 9, but your peak is at 5am to 7am. You need to tain yourself to be at your peak during your work hours as well. Personally, I find high energy levels when most people are winding down their day, around 4pm to 7pm and then after 8pm. Often, I’ll purposely take some of that time away or schedule more less-strategic tasks during hours when I’m not as engaged. It’s suggested that we should find at least 2 hours a day to dive into the harder strategic work, and leave the other hours for meetings or less urgent tasks. This will surely help us to be more productive.
6. Allocate time to walk or exercise.
Try to find time to walk at least once a day. This could be around the parking lot, down the street, or in the park, and it’s more refreshing than anything on social media that reduces your productivity.
This isn’t about staying in shape or losing weight, not that those are bad things. But exercise can help you to be more productive because it increases your alertness. Because it increases your blood flow and cardiovascular health, you’ll be less anxious, more focused, and more capable of dealing with stress. A healthy mind and body will boost your productivity ten-folds.
7. Productivity VS laziness.
While no one likes admitting it, sheer laziness is the Number 1 contributor to lost productivity. Checking up unwanted and unprofessional messages or indulging in an activity that isn’t matching your work niche is something you do when you don’t want to work. This simply is laziness and directly makes you a non-productive person. For being productive you must work hard and avoid being lazy at all cost. Place your focus on doing the things that matter most as efficiently and effectively as possible.
8. Follow the 80/20 rule to be more productive.
Only 20 % of what you do each day produces 80% of your results. Eliminate the things that don’t affect your workday — they have a minimal effect on your overall productivity. Try giving priorities to your work and list them as “the most important thing” placed on the top followed by others. This will help you do the most productive work in your best hours.
9. Tackle your challenging tasks before noon.
Knock out your most important and time-consuming work when your brain is fresh. Our brain is burdened every hour with several thoughts that hinder our productivity. If you have any busy work or meetings, save them for the afternoon. By scheduling your day this way, you’ll be able to create new and more productive ways to manage your time.
10. Group similar tasks together.
When we switch between tasks, we naturally create friction. Starting and stopping that pulls us away from being productive. Opening and closing. Beginning and ending. All of those small moments add up and break our concentration. Then we get distracted and forget why we were even reviewing and working on something in the first place. But the way to cut down on switching between tasks is to group similar ones together and performing them in the same period of time. This will save time and make you feel and be more productive. To be more productive you just have to focus on your daily actions and arrange them as per their demand.
You can’t expect to be more productive overnight.
You’ve probably spent years cultivating your work habits–both good and bad, consciously or subconsciously–and those won’t immediately change.
Small adjustments and a bit sacrifice can lead to more lasting changes, but those may take time, discipline, and of course some of your temptation. It looks really easy when you’re reading a “productivity article” or “ways to be more productive” blogs like this and think it’s easy. But it’s actually not. You have to be dedicated, focused, and motivated with non-wavering will power to achieve something. Sometime you will fal and want to quit but you have to stand up, be patient and kind through the rough patches and try again. You are changing the way you live and work. It will take time and energy but you will succeed and be more productive each day.
